Achnahaird to Garvie Bay geology

Join in with European Geopark Week and step back in time on this geology-themed coastal walk in our very own North West Highlands Geopark. Take a glimpse into the fossil records of the first life to appear on earth and walk through the fall-out of a meteorite strike. It’s also a great walk for spotting seals, seabirds and otters.

Bring sturdy footwear and lunch. 5.25 mi/8.5 km. 10:30am – 3pm

Explore Tanera Mor

A chance to explore the history and wildlife of Tanera Mor, featuring a boat trip, a wild walk, and a chance to visit the island’s café and post office. We’ll look for wild flowers and birds, and discover parts of this island’s secluded shore, as well as learning about the history of this magical place.

The Coigach Gathering 2017

achiltibuie bagpipe specialistsThe Coigach Gathering is an annual get together in the community. Initially started to raise funds for our new hall it remains the main fund raising event to support it.

Centred around the hall and playing field with competitions, games, local food and activities indoors and out and of course the raffle with some fantastic prizes.

All rounded off with a great dance in the evening.

 

My first mountain, Stac Pollaidh, Coigach

Climb this iconic mini-mountain with the guidance of the rangers. You will share the air of eagles and ravens on an adventure to get up on to the great dragon’s back and east summit. Bring a parent or guardian, wear sturdy footwear, waterproofs and lunch.

Aimed at anyone over the age of 8.    2.75 miles/ 4.5 km.
10am – 3.30pm

Ceilidh Trail Musicians 2016

The first Cèilidh Trail was established by Fèis Rois in 1999 to help teenage musicians develop their performance skills and to create a vibrant traditional music entertainment programme in the Highlands. Over the years, the project has been replicated in other areas and has proved to be an overwhelming success.

A great opportunity to hear some of the best young musicians from the north.

Tickets £5 at the door.

“A music session, traditional music session or simply session is a term often used to describe a social gathering of musicians. Sometimes a music session is referred to as a jam session. Much of the music at such events revolves around traditional music for the area or popular songs. A suitable venue might be a local hotel, public bar, village hall or private home. At a session musicians usually play or sing for pleasure and simply socialise with each other.”

Sadly there will not be a festival this year but it will be back with a bang in 2018!

There will however be a ceilidh to raise funds for the festival so all is not lost.
