Mairearad Green and King Creosote in concert

king creosote mairearad greenAn opportunity to see these two great musicians on the island of Tanera Mor.

Singer/song writer, King Creosote and folk musician, Mairearad Green first collaborated on Mairearad’s ‘Summer Isles’ album released in 2016. Mairearad has since guested on the latest King Creosote release ‘Astronaut meets appleman’ and toured the album in the UK last January premiering an exciting bagpipe addition to the band. The pair will be doing some writing together before a small Highland tour and there may well be some exclusive new songs!

The Coigach Gathering 2017

achiltibuie bagpipe specialistsThe Coigach Gathering is an annual get together in the community. Initially started to raise funds for our new hall it remains the main fund raising event to support it.

Centred around the hall and playing field with competitions, games, local food and activities indoors and out and of course the raffle with some fantastic prizes.

All rounded off with a great dance in the evening.

Ceilidh Trail Musicians 2016

The first Cèilidh Trail was established by Fèis Rois in 1999 to help teenage musicians develop their performance skills and to create a vibrant traditional music entertainment programme in the Highlands. Over the years, the project has been replicated in other areas and has proved to be an overwhelming success.

A great opportunity to hear some of the best young musicians from the north.

Tickets £5 at the door.

Much of the music at such events revolves around traditional music for the area or popular songs. A suitable venue might be a local hotel, public bar, village hall or private home. At a session musicians usually play or sing for pleasure and simply socialise with each other.”

Summer Isles Festival Ceilidh 2017

Sadly there will not be a festival this year but it will be back with a bang in 2018!

There will however be a ceilidh to raise funds for the festival so all is not lost.
