Scottish Wildlife Trust – Footpath Maintenance

Ben Mor Coigach Nature ReserveHelp us out with some footpath maintenance along the Postie’s Path.

Meet at 10am at Culnacraig (end of road).

ABOUT: We will be working within the spectacular Ben Mor Coigach Wildlife Reserve to improve habitats for wildlife and access for people.  All work is outside and physical and in sometimes difficult terrain so a reasonable level of fitness is required.  The Trust will provide all tools, training and supervision.

WHAT TO BRING: Warm outdoor clothing including waterproofs, sturdy boots or wellies, lunch, snacks and a drink (a warm drink is recommended in cooler months).

Mountain Life: Golden Eagles on Ben More Coigach

When - Thursday 18th April, 2019 , 10:00am
Where - Culnacraig

On this mountain walk we will be learning about wildlife, especially golden eagles, while taking in spectacular views and seeing sculptural formations of Torridonian sandstone. Participants on this walk must be over 8 years old with good fitness and be able to walk for most of the day on steep, rough ground over approximately 11 km/6 mi. Further details on what to expect and meeting place will be provided on booking.

Rhythmnreel at the Coigach Hall

A popular Celtic rock band based in the Highlands with bagpipes, fiddles, accordion, vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, and drums.

Mountain Life: Wester Ross Green Volunteers

When - Friday 17th May, 2019 , 11:00am
Where - Stac Pollaidh

Thousands of people walk up the popular Stac Pollaidh path every year and this is having some wear and tear on the path. Give something back to this hill while taking in some stunning views and attending a ‘green gym’. This is a self-led event but the ranger will be on hand with advice, biscuits and you can borrow tools and gloves if you need them. We will be clearing vegetation and unblocking cross drains. You might also want to bring a packed lunch for the hill.

The Coigach Gathering 2019

A great day out for all the family with competitions, races, local food and drink and a dance in the evening.

Fast food in Coigach includes oysters, herring, salmon and other local produce. Why not treat yourself?

Mountain Life: Cul Mor

Where - Cul Mor

On the boundary of Wester Ross and Sutherland, Cul Mor is a Corbett with spectacular views from the top. It is a hard but worthwhile climb and we will be searching wildlife including a rare plant called Norwegian Mugwort.

Suitable for adults only. Participants must have good fitness for steep and rocky terrain and bring appropriate outdoor clothing, footwear and lunch. Distance 13.5km/8.5mi.

Places are limited and booking essential by 29th July, 4pm.

Wester Ross Green Volunteers: Badentarbet Beach Clean

Where - Badentarbat

badentarbat beachJoin the Wester Ross ranger and Coigach and Assynt Living Landscape Project to clean up this beach for wildlife and people. It regularly gets coated in rubbish from the sea and it needs your help. Drop in for as long as you like.

• Bags, gloves and pickers provided (but bring your own if you can)

• Wear sturdy footwear and bring layers of clothing

• We will have baking!

Foraging Walk, Isle Martin near Ullapool

When - Tuesday 1st October, 2019 , 12:00pm
Where - Isle Martin

Join the ranger for a potter about Isle Martin (a community owned Island run by The Isle Martin Trust) where we will look at food from the land and coast. Following the walk, there is a museum and café on the island which you can enjoy.

Suitable for adults and families with children over 8 years old. Distance approx. 2.5km/1.5mi. Please bring lunch, sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing.

Places are limited and booking essential by 4pm on the 30th of September.

The Ferry is run by the Isle Martin Trust and charged seperately. The ranger will meet you on the island.
