Achiltibuie and the Summer Isles is a place of boats. You can bring yours and join the fun. Canoes and dinghies can be launched from gentle sandy beaches, or with larger boats from the concrete launching slip at Old Dornie, the local fishing harbour. Once at sea, it’s all yours. There are islands to explore and fish to be caught.
If you don’t have your own equipment or want some training contact one of the members in the activities section for help and advice, or to book a trip to the islands.
Look out for our local St Ayles skiffs, the Coigach Lass and Lily Rose. Both these boats were built by the local community as part of the Scottish Coastal Rowing project. Our crews have raced all over Scotland in local regattas and have even travelled to London to compete in the Great River Race on the Thames.
The Coigach crews won the first world championship held in Ullapool in 2013 and came 6th in the 2016 championship at Strangford Lough in Ireland against teams from as far away as New Zealand, Tasmania and America as well as Scotland.
Pleasure cruises to the Summer Isles are also available on the Isabella with
Seals are always a feature of the trip.
