Just a quick note to say just how impressed we all were with how lovely everyone is that we came into contact with during our recent holiday up in Coigach. The shop, craft shops, bar cafe and restaurant and people we met round and about. Living in the central Lake District I’m very aware of how swamped you can feel with tourists. I can also say that your (for want of a better word) customer service far outstrips anything I’ve seen locally to me. There’s a reason we’ve been coming for years. Thanks again to all you good people who work and live there.

I grew up in Scotland and spent many happy summer holidays fishing in Assynt/Coigach. Having lived in Melbourne Australia for some forty years I find myself being pulled back to the North West and now have a non negotiable week fly fishing for trout and the occasional salmon every year! I was a late arrival for the Hill Race last year and may have finished last but possibly first in may age category!

The following is from a write up of a field trip by a group of amateur geologists from Staffordshire in 2017.
“The Achiltibuie Tourist Association (in conjunction with others) is currently working towards promoting the geodiversity of Coigach to the general public and it is hoped that a geotrail will be produced in the future. It is an area of outstanding beauty and tranquillity, with its own microclimate and wonderful people. In the summer trips can be taken out to the Summer Isles and who knows what geological wonders are waiting to be discovered there. Accommodation is supplied by numerous chalets, B & B’s and the Summer Isles Hotel. There is also the Fuaran pub, the Piping School café and Salt; a wonderful sea food restaurant. A return visit is surely a must!”

The traditional music session I attended this week with my family at the Coigach Comunity Hall was a a real treat. It was everything a good session should be …A solid core of local musicians who clearly love playing together, and a friendly welcome to whoever turns up, from wherever in the world. We played and listened to local favourites, including local compositions, traditional songs from Scotland, England and Ireland (via Thailand!),Shetland reels, Irish Jigs, a German take on a Pibroch, a mini classical piano recital, a beautiful rendition of ‘Alleluia’ and more… There were fiddles, pipes, whistles, mandolin, harp, double bass, button accordian, banjo, harmonica, guitar and voices. Worth going out your way for.

Definitely the best place to be in the world. We will come back again and again and again. Especially as we have friends in Polbain who gives us the feeling to be at home. Can’t await to come back next year to relax at the most peaceful part of the world I have ever been…

Not a visitor but joining some for the afternoon to participate in Rock Climbing/Abseiling at Reiff Tues June 3rd.
Laura, Tim and Kenny were perfect instructors encouraging and understanding. Abseiling was what I really wanted to try and Kenny with a lot of patience talked me over the edge of the cliff for my first short descent. Once I’d done that a few times he got me over the longer drop.
I ended up really enjoying the experience and so glad I’d done it. Thanks Kenny.
Its happening again so they tell me June 30th. Maybe next time I’ll try the climbing back up! More info Laura and posters locally.

Loved the lobster and prawns, the salad from Achiltibuie Garden washed down with a lovely wine from Achiltibuie Stores.

I was up in September to this wonderful part of the World…what a lovely place!! I have a few friends from up there and they are always going on about it. I can see why! I got the chance to drive around and explore some of the quieter roads, with each twist and turn gives you magnificent views and great photo opportunities. I certainly hope it won’t be too long before I’m back up.
